Haha, totally dude! I sympathize with the idea of a "broad blog" but you do need to remember that if you niche is YOU, then your audience are the people you already read and like. The blogs you read on a regular basis? Comment on them. Regularly. The people who already read your blog and leave comments? Make sure you're friends with all of them. Send personal emails to thank them for reading. Nurture the readership you already have.

When I wrote this post back in January I was still finding my "niche" but because I listed to my readers and what they wanted, engaged with them, paid strict attention to the sites I already loved, my blog morphed into this social media/freelance thing and then turned into a whole business. It's a slow process but really paying attention to what you're already doing might help identify your audience in a way you might not have expected!

I'm beginning to hate the word niche. I have a personal blog which I guess means my niche is me (blows on her nails and buffs them on her lapel) but shockingly my audience is sort of paltry. So naturally this has been my million-dollar question: Who is my audience and how do I find those people?

I would say my blog can loosely fit into the category of a humor blog, but once again that's quite broad. Any ideas on how to identify my audience?
